Guided Writing Experiences

In earlier sessions we examined writing instruction in relationship to the Gradual Release of Responsibility (GRR) Framework. We looked at the what effective modeling looks like at the elementary level. Throughout this session you are invited to dig deeper into what guided writing experiences might look like in an elementary classroom. As you do so, you are invited to think about the characteristics of these writing experiences. Are there similar opportunities for writing available in your classroom?
- Using the text selection, chapter one: The Power of Modeling from Write This Way by Kelly Boswell. make note of words, sentences and phrases that feel most important or relevant to you. If time is limited to a 45 minute session, this reading would work well as a reading to be completed prior to convening the group.
- Use a modified Text Rendering Protocol as way to facilitate the conversation and share out.
